Building a respectful, welcoming and supportive LEGO community

Our Community Values

💚Respect

We treat other members with courtesy and respect, even when we disagree. Different opinions, building styles, experience levels and interests are a natural part of our community.

💚Inclusion

We want new and existing members to feel welcome and comfortable participating in LITLUG activities. Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the hobby without discrimination or exclusion.

💚Constructive Communication

Disagreements are allowed. Personal attacks are not. We encourage members to discuss problems openly and constructively, focusing on the issue rather than attacking the person.

💚Creativity

LEGO is a creative hobby. We respect different approaches to building, collecting, photography, MOCs and other forms of LEGO-related creativity. Feedback should be constructive and respectful.

💚Community

LITLUG is built by its members. We encourage people to share knowledge, help one another, volunteer, contribute ideas and participate in the development of the club.

💚Fun

Above all, LITLUG exists because we love LEGO hobby. Our community should remain a place where people can have fun, meet other LEGO fans and enjoy the hobby together.

LITLUG Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

LITLUG is a community of adult LEGO enthusiasts who come together to share their passion for LEGO hobby, creativity, building, collecting, photography, events, and friendship.

Our goal is to maintain a community where members feel welcome, respected, safe, and free to participate regardless of their experience, building style, opinions, or level of involvement.

This Code of Conduct establishes the standards of behaviour expected from everyone participating in LITLUG and provides a clear process for addressing concerns and violations.

These expectations apply equally to all members, volunteers, Council members, the LITLUG Ambassador, and other people representing or participating in LITLUG activities.

LITLUG strives to be:

Welcoming

New and existing members should feel comfortable participating in the community and sharing their enthusiasm for LEGO hobby.

Respectful

Members may have different opinions, interests, personalities, building styles, experience levels, and approaches to the hobby. These differences should be treated with respect.

Inclusive

We welcome adult LEGO fans from different backgrounds and encourage participation without discrimination or exclusion based on personal characteristics.

Collaborative

LITLUG is built on the contributions of its members. We encourage cooperation, sharing of knowledge, helping others, and constructive communication.

Transparent

Club decisions, responsibilities, and the use of community resources should be handled honestly and responsibly.

Fun

Most importantly, LITLUG exists because we love LEGO hobby. Our community should remain a place where people can enjoy the hobby together.

Members and participants are expected to:

◼️ Treat others with respect and courtesy.
◼️ Communicate disagreements constructively.
◼️ Welcome new members and encourage participation.
◼️ Respect different LEGO interests, skill levels, opinions, and creative approaches.
◼️ Give constructive feedback rather than personal criticism.
◼️ Respect other people's creations, collections, property, privacy, and personal boundaries.
◼️ Follow reasonable instructions from event organisers and volunteers during LITLUG activities.
◼️ Respect the rules of venues, exhibitions, conventions, and other events where LITLUG participates.
◼️ Use LITLUG communication channels responsibly.
◼️ Raise legitimate concerns through appropriate channels rather than spreading accusations or unverified information.
◼️ Respect decisions made through the club's agreed governance processes, even when they personally disagree with those decisions.

The following behaviour is not acceptable within LITLUG activities, events, official communication channels, or when representing LITLUG:

Harassment and discrimination

◼️ Harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, or unwanted persistent contact.
◼️ Discrimination based on personal characteristics.
◼️ Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual attention.
◼️ Humiliating, degrading, or deliberately hostile behaviour.
◼️ Retaliation against a person who raises a concern in good faith.

Personal attacks and hostility

◼️ Personal insults, targeted humiliation, or deliberate attempts to undermine another member.
◼️ Repeatedly provoking or intimidating another member.
◼️ Deliberately creating hostility or division within the community.
◼️ Publicly attacking members or volunteers instead of addressing legitimate concerns through the appropriate process.

Rumours and Misinformation

LITLUG members should not knowingly spread false or misleading information about other members, LITLUG, LEGO®, other LEGO communities, or third parties.

This includes presenting rumours, assumptions, or unverified claims as facts.

Members are encouraged to distinguish between personal opinions and verified information.

Disagreements with other LEGO communities or organisations should not become a source of hostility or division within LITLUG.

LITLUG does not require its members to agree with every decision made by another LEGO community. Members are free to participate in other communities, but LITLUG's official channels should not be used to conduct personal disputes, spread unverified allegations, or deliberately damage another community's reputation.

Misuse of LITLUG channels

LITLUG communication channels, social media, events, and other club resources must not be used for:

◼️ Harassment or targeted attacks.
◼️ Unwanted recruitment or campaigning directed at LITLUG members.
◼️ Attempts to disrupt LITLUG activities or governance.
◼️ Manipulation of club decisions through intimidation, deception, or coordinated disruption.
◼️ Representing personal opinions as official LITLUG positions without authorization.

LITLUG recognises that LEGO fans may participate in multiple LEGO communities.

Membership in another LEGO club or community is not, by itself, a conflict of interest and is not prohibited.

LITLUG respects the fact that LEGO fans may belong to, participate in, or communicate with multiple LEGO communities.

Membership in another LEGO club or community is not, by itself, a conflict of interest and is not prohibited.

However, members must not use LITLUG's official channels, events, member lists, or internal resources to:

◼️ Conduct targeted recruitment campaigns without permission.
◼️ Disrupt LITLUG activities.
◼️ Manipulate LITLUG elections, decisions, or internal processes.
◼️ Obtain or misuse confidential LITLUG information.
◼️ Deliberately create division between LITLUG members.
◼️ Act on behalf of another organisation while presenting themselves as representing LITLUG.

LITLUG members remain free to make their own choices about which communities they participate in.

The purpose of this section is not to restrict members' personal freedom, but to protect LITLUG from interference, manipulation, harassment, or misuse of its community resources.

LITLUG is operated with the help of volunteers who contribute their time and skills without financial compensation.

Members are entitled to ask reasonable questions about club finances, purchases, event expenses, donations, sponsorships, or the use of club resources.

Good-faith questions or concerns are welcome and should be handled respectfully and transparently.

However, members must not:

◼️ Publicly accuse another member or volunteer of theft, fraud, dishonesty, or misuse of club resources without evidence.
◼️ Spread rumours or unverified allegations about the financial conduct of members or volunteers.
◼️ Use financial accusations as a means of personal retaliation or intimidation.
◼️ Deliberately damage the reputation of volunteers who perform unpaid work for the community.

Where a member has a genuine concern about financial matters, they should raise it privately with the LITLUG Council through the reporting process described below.


Legitimate concerns will be taken seriously and investigated fairly.

LITLUG is governed by a four-member LITLUG Council.

The Council exists to support the community, coordinate club activities, protect the interests of its members, and ensure that LITLUG operates fairly and responsibly.

The Council consists of:

◼️ The LITLUG Ambassador
◼️ 3-5 additional Council members

The Ambassador is an important representative of LITLUG but is not the sole decision-maker of the club

Council members collectively share responsibility for the governance of LITLUG.

The Council is responsible for:

◼️ Supporting the long-term development of LITLUG.
◼️ Representing the interests of the membership.
◼️ Coordinating major club activities and projects.
◼️ Supporting volunteers and event organisers.
◼️ Maintaining appropriate relationships with external organisations.
◼️ Supporting a respectful, welcoming and inclusive community.
◼️ Handling Code of Conduct concerns.
◼️ Supporting transparency regarding club resources and decisions.
◼️ Making decisions in the interests of the community rather than for the personal benefit of individual Council members.

Council members should listen to members' opinions and take their feedback into account.

The Council does not replace the membership. Members are an essential part of LITLUG's decision-making and development.

Council positions are open to eligible LITLUG members who are active participants in the community and are willing to contribute their time to the club.

Council members should:

◼️ Demonstrate respectful and responsible behaviour.
◼️ Support the values of LITLUG.
◼️ Be willing to work collaboratively with other Council members.
◼️ Act in the interests of the community rather than for personal benefit.
◼️ Respect confidentiality where appropriate.
◼️ Declare potential conflicts of interest.

Council members are selected through a member-supported process established by LITLUG.

When a Council position becomes available, eligible members may express their interest or be nominated according to the club's current election or appointment procedure.

The Council should strive to make decisions collectively and avoid concentrating unnecessary authority in a single individual.

LITLUG encourages members to actively participate in the development of the club.

Members may:

◼️ Suggest new activities or projects.
◼️ Provide feedback on club decisions.
◼️ Raise concerns.
◼️ Propose changes to club rules or procedures.
◼️ Participate in elections or other member decision-making processes.
◼️ Volunteer for projects and activities.
◼️ Express disagreement respectfully.

Disagreement with a Council decision is not, by itself, a violation of the Code of Conduct.

Members are encouraged to express different opinions openly and respectfully.

Council members should consider significant member feedback before making decisions that materially affect the community.

Council members and volunteers should disclose any situation where their personal interests, business interests, relationships, or involvement with another organisation could reasonably affect their ability to act in LITLUG's best interests.

Where appropriate, a Council member should not participate in a decision where they have a significant personal conflict of interest.

Being a member of another LEGO community does not automatically constitute a conflict of interest.

Any member may report a suspected violation of this Code of Conduct.

Concerns may be reported privately to any LITLUG Council member.

If the concern involves a Council member, the report should be directed to another Council member who is not involved in the matter.

If the concern involves multiple Council members, the remaining uninvolved Council members should determine an appropriate independent way to review the matter.

Reports should, where possible, include:

◼️ What happened.
◼️ When and where it happened.
◼️ Who was involved.
◼️ Any relevant evidence or witnesses.
◼️ Any other information that may help establish the facts.

Reports made in good faith will not result in retaliation.

LITLUG will make reasonable efforts to handle reports fairly, consistently, and confidentially.

1. Gather information about the concern.
2.Speak with the people involved.
3. Review relevant evidence or communications.
4. Allow involved parties an opportunity to provide their perspective.
5. Determine whether the Code of Conduct was violated.
6. Decide on an appropriate response.
7. Follow up where necessary.

Anyone directly involved in a reported incident should not be responsible for making the final decision regarding that incident.

Information will be shared only with people who reasonably need it to address the matter.

Consequences will depend on the seriousness, circumstances, and frequency of the behaviour.

Possible consequences include:

◼️ Informal discussion or reminder of the Code of Conduct.
◼️ Verbal or written warning.
◼️ Request to stop specific behaviour.
◼️ Temporary restriction from particular LITLUG activities or communication channels.
◼️ Temporary suspension of membership.
◼️ Removal from a volunteer or leadership role.
◼️ Termination of LITLUG membership.

Serious violations may result in immediate action.

LITLUG encourages members to report genuine concerns.

Knowingly making a false accusation, deliberately submitting fabricated evidence, or using the reporting process to harass, intimidate, or retaliate against another person may itself constitute a violation of this Code of Conduct.

A report that cannot be substantiated is not automatically considered a false report.

Members will not be penalised simply because their good-faith concern could not be proven.

Only individuals authorised by LITLUG may formally represent LITLUG to external organisations, media, events, LEGO-related organisations, or other third parties.

Members are free to express their personal opinions, but should not present personal statements as official LITLUG positions unless authorised to do so.

The LITLUG Ambassador is an important external representative of the community, but significant organisational decisions remain the responsibility of the LITLUG governance structure rather than any single individual.

LITLUG recognises that multiple LEGO communities may exist within Lithuania and internationally.

The existence of other communities is not considered a problem or competition that members are required to engage in.

LITLUG will maintain professional and respectful relationships with other LEGO communities whenever possible.

Members should not be encouraged to participate in hostility, rivalry, harassment, or public disputes between LEGO communities.

LITLUG members are free to choose which communities they participate in.

Our focus remains on building a positive LITLUG community rather than competing through personal conflicts.

This Code of Conduct applies to behaviour occurring:

◼️ At LITLUG meetings and events.
◼️ At exhibitions and conventions where a person participates as part of LITLUG.
◼️ In official LITLUG online groups and communication channels.
◼️ In LITLUG-related projects and activities.
◼️ When representing LITLUG publicly.
◼️ In other situations where behaviour has a direct and significant impact on the LITLUG community.

LITLUG does not seek to control members' private lives or personal relationships.

LITLUG is a community built by its members.

Leadership, volunteers, organisers, and the Ambassador are here to help the community function — not to own it.

We recognise that LITLUG exists because of the people who participate, contribute ideas, build LEGO®, organise events, volunteer their time, and support one another.

Every member deserves to be treated with respect.

Every member should have an opportunity to be heard.

And everyone who contributes their time to LITLUG deserves to have that contribution treated with respect.

Our shared goal is simple:

To build a friendly, creative, respectful, and enjoyable LEGO community where everyone can feel that they belong.
